Monestary of Jesus

Located in Setúbal the Monestary of Jesus is one of the greatest treasures of the Setúbal region with Manueline style. It is classified as a National Monument. The Convent of Jesus building was founded in 1490 by the nursemaid of king D. Manuel the 1st: Justa Rodrigues Pereira.

The amazing Gothic Church presents a sumptuous interior and was the very first attempt of an hall church in Portugal . Three naves with vaults with the same height, allows an uniform illumination of the interior. The Church is famous for its lovely twisted columns built in one typical rock of this charming Arrábida region named “brecha”.

Mourisca Tide Mill & Sado Estuary Nature Reserve

The Mourisca Tide Mill is located near the village of Mourisca and in the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve. It has been restored and is now an environmental education centre and museum.

Sant´Iago Fair in Setúbal is almost ready to start. From 23 July till 7 August in Manteigadas, will be an event with lots of music, activities, exhibitions , local products, portuguese traditions, among many other things you can do.

On the next weekend it will happen another biggest and spectacular event called FINA Setúbal Bay 10 km World Cup 2011 on Al. Promoted by Municipality of Setúbal will have several European, Worldwide and Olimpic champions in competition. T

Thomas Lurz and Angela Maurer (both from Germany9 , Petar Stoychev (Bulgaria), Olga Beresnieva (Ukraine) and Gianniotis Spyridon (Greece) will compete on this World Cup competition to be the first. Portugal will have also athlete´s , their names are : Daniela Pinto and Arniy Lavrentyev. Besides the event, if you travel to Setúbal you have several activities during the day till FINA´s Setúbal Bay World Cup.

We can already smell the Summer in Setúbal Region and the city is organizing the forthcoming Traditional Festivities. On 10 and 11 June besides the parades, you can taste the amazing gastronomy of Setúbal region (Sardines that you will love forsure) , taste amazing wines, drink Moscatel and see the parades at Praça de Touros Carlos Relvas .

The show will start at 10pm with several local clubs that prepared an amazing parade, special for you that will travel to Setúbal . The price of Tickets will be 2,5 € and colours , happiness and funny moments we grant it ! Later, on 18 June , the best ten marches of these two days goes to the finals at Av. Luisa Todi (10 pm).

From 20 June till 4 July, it will be possible to visit an exhibition of the arcs used during the parades on the Traditional Festivities. They will be available at Paços do Concelho .

Silver Medal Award for Lobo Mau 2008 and Casa Agricola Assis Lobo

Casa Agricola Assis Lobo was present at the 10th Edition of the International Wines Contest called “La Selezione Del Sindaco” the producer had 2 wines in competition, which were : Lobo Mau 2007 and Lobo Mau 2008. We are proud to announce that the Lobo Mau 2008 (red wine) won the Silver Medal and it was the BEST Portuguese wine in the contest.

This prize, it is one more of the biggest list of Casa Agricola Assis Lobo with others amazing wines they produce on their 60 ha of vynery. Benevento and Torrecuso (Italy), thanks so much to appreciate excellent wines like Lobo Mau 2008.

Happening today is the commemorations of Navy Day in Setúbal. Since last 14th May till 20th you have an amazing exhibition of Naval force at Casa da Baía (open last weekend, with an amazing success) and on Largo José Afonso you have two simulators used by Navy for training.

The simulators are of the helicopter Lynx and ships. During this days, you can also make climbing at Largo José Afonso, scuba baptism and practise airsoft (category of paintball).

From 19th to 22th May, you can visit several naval units anchor on the Port of Setúbal and make a tour on fast boats intervention. Travel do Setúbal, it is a city of several events and activities.

Atlantic Tour 2011 at Comporta in Portugal Dream Coast ended! Herve Godignon riding Carolus Z leaves Portugal with the biggest prize money of 26.000 € of a total of 375.000 €.

Herve Godignon (Olympic bronze Medal in 1992, Barcelona) won the CSI 4* after a 30 days event with more than 200 riders from 20 different countries and more than 400 horses.

During the stay of all this people at this equestrian event, was possible to find them on restaurants near beach or on the hotels of the Comporta / Troia area. Till next time, we believe that Atlantic Tour will be bigger and event better on 2012 edition.

Carlos Mendes is known artist in Portugal on music, cinema and TV Shows. On the next 26 March will perform at Teatro Municipal of Almada at 9.30pm .

They celebrate 25 years old and 15 since the last album of originals. Pop Dell'Arte are one of the most portuguese mythical bands on the scene.

On the next 25 March they will perform at Centro de Artes de Sines at 10 pm to present "Contra Mundum" album which had nice reviews on the portuguese press. Pop Dell'Arte is a quintet with João Peste, Paulo Monteiro, Zé Pedro Moura, Nuno Castedo and Eduardo Vinhais.

During the last week, on the Atlantic Tour 2011 (the third week) Shane Breen and Ahmed Darrhar get away of their competitors with 0 points and excellent results on the time to make course.

Shane Breen won on the time delayed 1.25/1.30 (7 years) and Ahmed Darrhar on Table A against the clock , 1.15/1.25 (6 years). Antonio Portela Carneiro won on time delayed , 1.15/1.20 (5 years old) and Vitor Frias on Table A against the clock with Jump-off , 1.15/1.25 (6 years).

Hands on Approach , a world music band that released the 5th Album called "High and Above". Rui David , Sérgio André Mendes, João Luís and João Coelho) are back with the High and Above tour 2011 .

Stronger than ever, they released already three wonderful singles called "Days of Our Own", "High and Above" and "Black Tears" (feating Ana Free). This year, Hands on Approach (website Facebook) celebrates 15 years of career since Rui David was singing and playing when a DJ contact him to play live on a radio show. Spring Tour 2011 at Herdade Barroca D’Alva

During this March, besides Atlantic Tour 2011 on Comporta, we have also the Spring Tour 2011 at Herdade Barroca D’Alva . This event, located on a historic Herdade of Barroca D'Alva is on Alcochete with a presence of several good riders in competition.

Started on last wednesday and it has the presence of Australian rider Clayton Fredericks and Spanish riders like Esteban Benitez, Manuel Senra, Marta Botim Naveda among others. This is an international contest for the CIC of one and two stars.

With excellent access by road to Lisbon through Vasco da Gama Bridge or to Spain, the location is amazing and beautiful landscapes of the Tejo estuary, where you can find flamingos . Good luck to all riders of Spring Tour 2011 on this event in the Portugal Dream Coast.

Designed by Peter Townsend and with a par of 72, was built in 2004. It has 18 holes and a length (in yards) from yellow tees of 6046. Concept with a handicap for men of 28 and for women of 36.

This course has been designed for professional portuguese golf tournaments. The holes are over undulating and laid out ground with sufficient bunkers and water hazards to challenge any golfer. Typical cork trees decorated the fairways of this course.

Here you can find buggies, hand and electrical trolleys, pitching green, driving range, club hire, putting green, bar and restaurant. One fantastic green landscape. This is one of the seven courses available at Portugal Dream Coast and located on the north of Setubal Region.

In the Setubal region, there is a city called Montijo that is envolved between the Tejo River and the rural landscapes making an amazing contrast of blue and green colors. First name was "aldegallega" and exist since Paleolitc .

Wine producers , wood and sault extraction were the main activities and supplied the portuguese capital (Lisbon) through small boats and special boats called "báteis" to transport wood.

The Portuguese band the Corvos will perform Palmela, Sesimbra and Grandola. Dark nights wrapped in mysticism and the band gracing the stage during the year 2011 under the influence of U2 with songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "With or Without You" among others well known.

Corvos are an unusual string quartet. The image of the band coupled with an innovative approach that explores the fusion of the classical school and the rock, resulting in a show of inexhaustible energy. This new tour has the name of "Corvos visitam U2" and will take place in the major portuguese cities.

Dolphin paintings contest in Setúbal
